Apple and Wheat flour Halwa/Indian Sweet

Apple and wheat flour halwa is not only a delicious sweet but also a healthier sweet.  Good for kids who doesn’t like apple. In this recipe, I avoided cashews because my kids don’t like the crunchy bite in between.

  • Red apple (grated) – 1 ½ cup
  • Wheat flour – 1 cup
  • Sugar – 1 cup ( or more adjust accordingly)
  • Boiled Milk – 1 cup
  • Ghee – 6-8 tbsp
  • Cashew nuts – few (optional)
  • Food colour – few drops

Add grated apple and 1 ½ cup of water in a non-stick sauce pan and bring it to boil, reduce heat and cook apple until soft.  Once done remove from heat and keep aside.

Take wheat flour in a bowl add water little by little and stir without any lumps to get dosa batter consistency.  Add milk and mix well.

Bring back to heat. Stir continuously otherwise lumps will form. Once the mixture is cooked and starts to thicken add sugar, cooked apple and food colour and stir. Add ghee little by little and stir the halwa. Stir the halwa mixture continuously for 25-30 minutes.  Fry cashews in ghee and add it to the halwa.

Once the halwa starts to leave the pan and the ghee is separated, remove from heat and transfer the halwa to a greased plate.

Once it is cooled cut into desired shapes and serve.
