Spicy Mashed Tapioca

Tapioca and fish curry are good combination. My mom makes this version in the absence of fish curry. Easy to make and can have with rice or as evening snack.

  • Tapioca – 2 Medium sized
  • Shallots – 3 no
  • Grated coconut – ½ cup
  • Turmeric powder – a pinch
  • Chilli powder – 1 tea spoon
  • Cumin seeds – ½ tea spoon
  • Mustard seeds – ½ tea spoon
  • Curry leaves - few
  • Oil - 1 tablespoon

Peel the skin of tapioca and wash it. Cut them into small pieces.

Add enough water and cook them. Add salt once it started boiling. Cook until it becomes soft. Drain the water and keep it aside.

Meanwhile add turmeric powder, chilli powder, cumin seeds, and shallots to coconut and grind coarsely.

Add ground coconut mixture to cooked tapioca and mash it.

Heat oil in a pan and add mustard seeds, once it splutter add curry leaves and then mashed tapioca and fry for a minute and remove from fire.
